Straight answers
Do I need a separate electrical permit if the GC already has a building permit?
Usually, yes — the building permit belongs to the GC, and the electrical work files under your license on top of it. A few counties fold trade work into a combination permit instead, and knowing which ones is the difference between one filing and a rejected one.
Do I have to register my license in every county I work in?
Often. A state license does not by itself make you a permit holder in a given county or city; many want a local registration, a bond, or both on file before anything issues in your name. Which ones want what is the part we hold.
Can you pull permits in a state where I am not licensed yet?
Reciprocity varies by state and by license class. We check what your current license buys you in the jurisdiction you are bidding, and what has to be added before anything can issue.
